Basically, like English I offered in the first semester, this course is aimed at helping students to become effective independent learners of English above the intermediate level. (After all, one semester may be too short a time for some students to reach this goal.) Students are trained in various reading skills through reading authentic English texts and are taught more advanced English sentence patterns in addition to doing different kinds of listening exercises. But there are some differences from English I, as can be seen in the course objectives below.
